I have been interested in art and textiles from a very young age, however only when realising I didn't have to study 'academic' subjects did I study costume design. Designing has always been embedded in me, and performance was always something I was involved with too: drama, dance, gymnastics, music... etc. Since getting a part time job in a theatre while I studied science (!), more and more of my time was taken up by the theatre life, so I made the very scary decision to change courses and pathways completely and apply for an Art and Design course, specialising in Costume Design.
I have recently completed my degree in 'Fashion Design with Design for Performance BA(Hons), including a placement year in the industry. I gained lots of experience over England doing different roles and working with various theatres, community projects and even carnivals. My biggest achievement over the year was head designing, costuming, chaperoning, styling and dressing a cast of 30 for a musical adaptation of 'The Snow Queen' by Hans Christian Andersen.
I am a confident designer who loves to create interesting fun designs and photo-shoots. I enjoy working with textures, dying and making my own fabric and I creating something that has a philosophical meaning, something that tells a story... I am easy to get on with and I have experience fitting and dressing costumes with both amatuer and professional actors/dancers, therefore I am comfortable and confident working with people.
