The Crucible- West Yorkshire Playhouse
During my time with the wardrobe team working on the Crucible, I make 2 dresses, printed a few t-shirts and helped with the distressing process of the costumes; washing them multiple times, painting, spraying, sand-papering shoes etc. I also learnt about some of the practicalities of stage costumes when I did some of the less glamorous jobs, for example attaching sweat pads with poppers, labelling socks, hunting for plimsoles for the children when they were backstage to protect their feet, attaching labels to every costume, and making, printing labels and sticking them on dividers in preperation for the next production.
I stayed for some of the technical week and saw how all the costumes, the lighting and the sound were put together. It was a really interesting few weeks and I found I picked up a lot just from being in a professional environment.
